He had not been back in Victus for long. He was not entirely sure what he was doing quite yet. He was not sure where the rest of his family was or if they were even still alive. He'd left his mother to her own devices in order to return though he had yet to see if that had been a mistake or not. He missed her terribly yet this was something he could not ignore. This was the land of his blood, the land he had always been meant to return to. He couldn't be sure what that meant exactly though he knew it could not be ignored. Wherever he was meant to be in this land, he knew he was not there just yet. Where he found himself was lurking on the edge of something ancient, something powerful. Whatever was the cause, he found himself moving forward.
There was something about the Ritual Grounds that seemed to call to him, making his blood sing out. It was a compelling thing he could not fight even if he wanted to. The thought of a challenge sent shivers down his spine. He was not sure what kind of challenger awaited him but he knew he was ready to face it without fear. He did not run to get there. He was not in that much of a hurry. Instead he lumbered at a leisurely pace, his antlered head held high with pride. He looked around as he approached ever closer, looking for signs of his opponent. There seemed to be nothing yet but he wouldn't be caught off guard if he could help it. It was for that reason, if nothing else, that he took on a bit of a defensive stance, chin tipped down ever so slightly should his opponent decide to go for his throat. His shoulders rolled forward a bit as he waited, dual toned eyes moving around slowly as he stood in wait.
A mangled mess of emotions bubbled through the creature, confusing it's already tormented mind and memory. This place was unfamiliar and it had no reason to be here. If there had once been a reason, it had since been forgotten. Cheshire trekked through the new terrain and a wave of power flowed over it as the beast crossed onto the Ritual Grounds. This was the place where Gods and Goddesses were said to have roamed back in the days where they still had power over the common wolves. Such times were long since passed.
As it moved forward, a white figure appeared in the corner of it's eye. Cheshire turned only to find the stranger gone from sight. Had it been looking for someone? Was that why it came here? The spirit lurched forward after the white wolf but kept forgetting where it had last seen them. Twisting and turning through the lines of trees it felt the other wolf growing further and further away with each step. Already stricken with frustration, the poor soul began to feel the weight on it's shoulders growing heavier and heavier until it had had enough. “Show yourself!” It cried. Frantic eyes searched the foliage for any signs of the stranger but no one revealed themselves as the seconds pressed by.

He stood in wait, looking about to see what it might have been that had called him here. There was nothing at first. He'd been oblivious to the spirit who had been following him at a distance. For all he knew he was alone apart from whatever - or whoever rather- might be here in wait for him. He was on edge, his muscles tensed as he strained his ears to listen for anyone that might be here. For the longest time there was nothing but silence. He was beginning to consider the fact that maybe he'd gone crazy. Had he come here for nothing? But before he could question himself further, a voice called out and a grin cracked his lips.
He crept forward as quietly as his large frame would allow, dual toned eyes searching for the one who called out. And then he saw it, a spirit that was strange to behold indeed. He looked over it for only a second, took in the multitude of legs and his lip twitched up in a bit of a disgusted grimace. Was this what he was to face? Then so be it. He didn't give himself time to second guess his next actions. Instead he huffed, sending hot air rushing out through his nostrils before he gave a mighty bellow. "Right here!" As he cried out he had begun to charge forward into a loping gallop, his head tilted downward in an attempt to catch the creature off guard and run his antlers into his side.

The beast closed its eyes, unable to think with all the raging emotions inside it. Cheshire slowly inhaled and exhaled before raising its eyelids. A cry came from its left side and before it could process what was happening, a sharp burst of pain rose through the creature's body. The spirit screamed as it was thrown several feet backwards, liquid pouring from the wound. It had never seen the dead bleed before. Touching the flesh, it felt a great sensation of pain unlike anything it had felt before. Sapphire optics latched onto the white monster and a grin spread across its lips before the creature disappeared into nothingness.
Silence was something it practiced often and such a skill came useful in a time like this. Their battlegrounds were filled with trees and this gave Cheshire a slight advantage. It scaled the nearest limb, careful to keep pressure on the wound with one of its paws so no trace of its location would be given away. From up in the treetops, it threw fiery stars down upon the white wolf. Y o u w i l l p a y.

He felt the pressure in his neck as his antlers collided with the man and a sense of victory and pride filled him for a brief moment as he looked up to see the man get sent flying. He was quick to get up though and he was put on edge as the spirit quickly got to his feet and disappeared from sight. He never really cared for spirits. The few he'd met always seemed to enjoy tricks like this. It made him uncomfortable, truth be told. He was never one for such trickery. He had no doubt that the creature was up to something. Any minute now he was certain there would be something thrown in his direction. He needed to find where he was before that happened.
Feeling around him, he felt the energy charging the air like static, searched for traces of aura that would lead him to the spirit who his from him. For several moments there was nothing until a flare above him flashed in to view suddenly and he jerked himself to the side a moment too late. Embers rained down on him and a furious snarl left him as the sent of charred fur and flesh burned his nose, the pain threatening to make his eyes water. He used the pain to fuel his rage, pulling forth several points of light that he sent flying toward the man's energy in the trees above, the stars whistling dangerously as they sliced through the air at frightening speeds.

The other man was quick to find his way around the spirit's attacks, though it seemed that the fire had caught onto his flesh and done some damage. Grass beneath his pearly paws sizzled, making the battlefield light up and cast glorious shadows. Cheshire grinned at this, but the moment didn't last. Stars of white light came soaring up but the paths were easily predicted and the creature dodged them with no trouble at all.
Starting to feel the fatigue of magic use, Cheshire let the camouflage fall from it's pelt. The stranger already knew where it was, why bother wasting energy? Creeping down the side of the tree that was not facing the enemy, it slithered through the brush to charge the man at an angle he would not see coming. Cheshire roared as it's paws pushed it closer and closer until they finally collided. With it's jaw open far wider than any average wolf's could be, it attempted to latch onto the man and make him bleed. All the while it's body was low to the ground in an attempt to keep the flesh of it's belly intact.

He watched as his magic flew at the man but to no avail it would seem. They simply flew into the trees until they either collided with tree branches or flew past until they sizzled out of existence. A frustrated growl left him but he did not let his guard down. He wouldn't be giving up so easily. He may have missed but it did not mean this was over by a long shot. He could still fight and so could the creature he was facing down. No, he couldn't give up just yet.
He waited on edge, straining his ears and nose for the telltale signs of the creatures approach. For several moments there was nothing but eerie silence and he nearly lost control of himself in those few moments. But then the rustle of leaves made him jerk his head to catch sight of the man out of the corner of his eye. He jerked himself out of instinct but he was far too large and slower than one who might have been able to pull off the feat successfully. He winced as he felt the sharp prick of teeth but, thankfully, his fur was thick enough that it saved him from most of the force. Anger rose in him and a snarl left him as he left gravity do its job. Relaxing himself ever so slightly, he let his full weight teeter to the side until the full weight of him was left to fall on the man in a crushing sense. He'd like to see what the creature would do then.

It had been a success, but not overwhelmingly so. It's teeth had scraped the surface though the man's fur was incredibly thick so the beast got mostly a mouth full of white fur. As it released and started to step away from the man, it noticed him starting to fall in an attempt to land on top of it. Cheshire grinned and easily avoided the attack. With the man lying on the ground, it decided to throw itself at him with both a magical and a physical attack.
Having no time to come up with some clever way to defeat the man, Cheshire simply lit itself on fire and threw itself onto the man. The flames eagerly spread all across its body and made Cheshire look absolutely insane. Claws and fangs aimed to wound the wolf beneath it and all the while a bright fire danced on its flesh, burning all but itself. Smoke would rise from the two battling masses and singe the surrounding flora. The spirit had no cares, though. A victory felt close at hand and nothing else seemed to matter.

Attacks: Chesh lit itself on fire and piled onto Laz while also scratching and biting at him.
Defense: I guess the fire is also a defense, a bit of smoke to make it hard for both to see.

He felt gravity taking control of his body as the feeling of falling filled him. His heart fluttered for a moment in nervous anticipation but he sent his thoughts elsewhere to keep the fear from setting in. He hoped to crush this thing, to squash whatever breath it might hold until it begged for mercy. However, as his body made contact with the earth, he was disappointed to find that it had moved at the last moment, avoiding his weight and escaping to safety. How obnoxious.
He was quick to attempt to roll back over to his feet to right himself but was caught off-guard by the thing that had now set itself on fire and was launching itself at him. He threw up a shield without thinking, his osculum lunae coming naturally to block most of the hit. But he could still feel the searing hot claws that were coated in fire as the man flailed at him. Anger bubbled in him and he tried to focus in on that anger to direct it at the creature that was assaulting him. The moment he opened his jaws a horrifying screech left him, the close proximity of the allora vox sure to stun, if not temporarily deafen him for a time.
